Thomas
Benicky, Jr., 87, of
Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township) died Saturday, February 4, 2012 in
Country Care Manor. Born in Smock, PA on March 23, 1924, he was the
son of the late Thomas Benicky, Sr. and Mary (Polachek) Benicky.
Thomas
attended schools in both Perryopolis and Brownsville. He served in
the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Signalman Second Class on the
LCI-704 in the Pacific Theater. He worked for U.S. Steel in Donora
and retired from the Belle Vernon Post Office in 1984. An avid
hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Belle Vernon Moose,
Uniontown VFW and the Belle Vernon American Legion. He was Catholic
by faith.
He is survived
by his wife, Carol (Gustason) Benicky; son, Mark T. (Sheryl) Benicky
of Belle Vernon; 2 grandchildren, Matthew & Katelyn Benicky; and
brother; Andy Jyachosky of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris
Benicky; and 4 step brothers, Joe, Mike, John and Pete Jyachosky.
Friends will
be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C.
