Thomas E. Ashbaugh, Sr., 69, of West Newton died Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center.  Born in Fitzhenry on December 4, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennifer (Galvin) Ashbaugh.

Tom was retired from Wall Firma in Monongahela, and was also employed at the Smithton Truck Stop.  He loved hunting and bowling.

He is survived by his 2 sons, John Painter and Thomas E. Ashbaugh, Jr., both of Monessen; 3

daughters, Angeline Bradshaw of Donora, Melinda Ashbaugh of West Alexander and Lou Ann Ashbaugh of Monessen; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bob Ashbaugh of Belle Vernon and James Ashbaugh of Smithton; 3 sisters, Patty Ashbaugh of Glassport, Sally Keller and Gertrude Griffith, both of Monongahela.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. Ashbaugh February 26, 1988 and his fiancé, Martha Lint.

Friends will be received on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darrel West officiating.  Interment will follow in Fells Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
