Joseph V.
Miller, 78, of Belle Vernon
died Monday, September 26, 2011 at his home. Born in Donora on March
23, 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Sophie (Harmon)
Miller.
Joseph was a
retired mechanical engineer specializing in hydraulics; he worked for
the Vickers/Eaton Corp. in Michigan and Jackson, Mississippi. He was a
member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver, the Knights of Columbus,
and a life-long member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and
served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by
his wife, Mary E. (Hommey) Miller; son, Mark J. (Patricia) Miller of
Denville, NJ; daughter, Sarah (Larry) Owensby of Mooresville, North
Carolina; 5 grandchildren, Breden Ireland of Jackson, MS, Tabatha
Ireland of Mooresville, NC, Christina Miller of Denville, NJ, Hayley
Ellis of Mooresville, NC, and Daniel Miller of Denville, NJ; brother,
Richard Miller of Peoria, Illinois; sister, Marian Jackman of Baden.
In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Adamson and a
brother-in-law, Joseph Jackman.
Interment in
Sacred Heart Cemetery will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 7,
2011. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10
a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 1870 Rostraver Road, Belle Vernon with
the Rev. Vincent J. Gigliotti as celebrant.
