Anna Pearl
Vandermer Opalenik, 83, of
Charleroi, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in Country Care Manor,
Washington Township. Born in Charleroi on March 16, 1926, she was the
daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Chevalier) Vandermer.
A homemaker, Pearl
was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Coal Center, where
she was active in the Methodist Women.
She is survived by
her husband of 63 years, Stanley Opalenik, Jr.; daughter, Lois (Jack)
Cochenour of Rostraver Township; 2 sons, Glenn (Susan) Opalenik of
Westerville, OH and David (Jennifer) Opalenik of Boise, ID; 9
grandchildren, Jeff Cochenour, Scott (Samantha) Cochenour, Brian (Jodie)
Cochenour, Carrie Cochenour, Angela Opalenik, Nicole (Mike) Thompson,
Robert Opalenik, Jessica Opalenik, and Sarah Opalenik; 3 great
grandchildren, Alexander, Elizabeth and Maxwell Cochenour; 2 sisters,
Ida Metcalfe of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Lee Brewer of Carlsbad, NM; 2
sisters-in-law; Marge and Jane Vandermer both of FL; and several nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jules and Raymond
Vandermer.
Friends will be
received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump
Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township
