Mary K. Stawovy, 87, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in Mon Valley Hospital.  Born in Grandtown , WV on August 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Fremal) Ziak.

Mrs. Stawovy was co-owner of Willowbrook and Cedarbrook Golf Courses.  She was a member of the former St. Timothy R.C. Church in Smithton and was presently a member of the Seven Dolors R.C. Church in Yukon.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna (Richard) Karabin of Ruffsdale; 2 grandchildren, Alex and Nick Karabin; brother, John (Violet) Ziak of Wickhaven; sister-in-law, Margaret Ziak of Decatur, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben T. Stawovy on April 19, 2008; brother, William Ziak of Decatur, AL; and a sister, Elizabeth Ziak of Wickhaven.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Seven Dolors R.C. Church, Yukon with Rev. Emil Payer as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the St. Timothy Cemetery, Smithton.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mary K. Stawovy's memory to be later donated to a church in Poland.
