Verabelle Opatkiewicz, 86, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at The Residence at Hilltop, Carroll Township.  Born in Rostraver Township on June 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Caleb Z. and Mary Emma (Sethman) Lynn.

Verabelle was employed by the former S & Y Foodland Supermarket in Rostraver Township for many years.  She was a member of Pricedale Union Church and Rostraver AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Chester P. Opatkiewicz; brother, Eugene "Sonny" (Isabelle) Lynn of Rostraver Township; and 3 sisters, Roberta (Cecil) Greenwalt of Lebanon, PA, Erma Echart of Fairhope and Shirley (Edward) Snyder of Mechanicsville, MD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James W. Lynn and Caleb Lynn, Jr.; and 4 sisters, Bertha Thompson, Ethel Hagerman, Violet Foor and Virginia Weaver.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Mimidis officiating.  Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
