Robert M. Smith, 83,
of Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township, died
Sunday, November 8, 2009 in Mon Valley Hospital. Born in Monessen on
December 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry R. and Anna Jessie
(Campbell) Smith.
Robert was retired from
Wheeling/Pittsburgh Steel Monessen Southwestern Railroad. He was a
member of the First Christian Church in Fayette City and the American
Legion. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Vinck)
Smith; 2 sons, Robert M. (Clair) Smith II of Morgan Hill, California and
Timothy J. (Pat) Smith of Canonsburg, 2 daughters, Peggy (Michael)
Heffner of Daisytown and Mary Anna (Bart) Pitner of Belle Vernon;
daughter-in-law, Cynthia Smith of Cloverdale, Indiana; 12 grandchildren;
6 great-grandchildren and a sister, Janet (Roger) Williams of Sun City,
Arizona.
In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by a son, Kenneth A. Smith.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4
and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle
Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934)
