George
M. Shandor, 91, of Belle
Vernon (Rostraver Township), died peacefully, surrounded by family and
friends, on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Hillside Manor, Uniontown. Born
in Grindstone on April 24, 1918, he was the son of the late Michael and
Verona (Liska) Shandor.
George was the
last surviving member of his family. He was a retired BOF Crane
Operator at USX Duquesne Works. He was an active member of the Church
of St. Anne in Rostraver Township where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a
member of the Holy Name Society, and participated in the RCIA Program.
George was kind and compassionate, he loved to garden and was an avid
hunter. He also served as a B17 Bomber Pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps
during World War II.
He devoted his
life to his wife of 62 years, Enes M. (Pusig) Shandor, who survives; and
is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be
received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday until 9:30
a.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle

A Funeral Mass
will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am in the Church of St. Anne,
Rostraver Township, with his Pastor, the Rev. Ronald L. Simboli,
presiding. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
