Elmer R. Snyder, 82, of New Stanton, died at his home on Friday, September 12, 2008.  Born in Smithton on September 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Edward and Annetta (Rhodes) Snyder.

Mr. Snyder retired from the Old Ben Coal Company as a Purchasing Agent.  He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Rostraver Township.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his 2 sons & daughters-in-law: James E. & Ruth Snyder of Monroeville and     Richard L. & Robin Snyder of New Stanton; 5 grandchildren; Jennifer L. Snyder, Elizabeth A. King, Sandra M. McElfresh, Ryan P. Snyder and Richard L. Snyder, Jr.; 3great grandchildren: Janie Snyder, Kendyl Snyder and Kiley McElfresh; and a brother: Edward Snyder of Mechanicsville, Maryland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, E. Ruth (Stuyvesant) Snyder on July 20, 2000.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am with the Rev. David K. Means officiating.  Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
