Carol (Goodling) Aubitz Guild, 72, of Port St. Joe, FL passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.


She was born on January 25, 1951 at Lewistown, PA; grew up in McAlistervillle, PA and graduated from East Juniata High School in 1968. She then attended college at the Harrisburg Area Community College and Columbia University where she majored in Journalism.

In 1973 she was hired by Historical Times Publishing in Harrisburg, PA where she worked till 1986, having been promoted there 4 times, and in October of 1986 received the National Folio Award for Excellence in Direct Marketing.


From 1986 to 1988 she was Director of Marketing for Continental Press in Elizabethtown PA and while there, received the Media and Methods Award for Creativity in marketing educational products. From 1988 to 2002 she was Director of Marketing and Sales for Kemp Manufacturing of Lititz, PA and from 2003 to 2009 she owned and ran the Excelsior Marketing Advertising Agency in Lancaster, PA where she received the International Destinations on Display Award for her work for the City of Lancaster.


She worked as creative director for the Aurora Creative Group from 2010 to 2011 before opening her own consulting business, C. Aubitz & Associates in 2011, which she ran till her retirement in 2016.


During her career she was involved with many non-profit organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Susquehanna Waldorf School. She was very involved in Junior Achievement of Central PA where she was on the planning committee that launched the Young Women's Futures Symposium, and was a volunteer business mentor for SCORE Lancaster and SCORE Southeastern PA from 2008 to 2016.

In 2014 she was selected as SCORE Lancaster Mentor of the Year and in 2015 was named to the SCORE Hall of Fame. She contributed knowledge and expertise to organizations such as Leadership Lancaster and the Susquehanna Council on Giving.


She was also involved with non-profit organizations in Florida including the Board of

Directors of Apalachicola Main Street, where she launched the Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt in 2017. She was also on the board of the PALS of the Apalachicola Margaret Key Library, and the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts, where she designed and created the annual season playbill each year, beginning in 2018.


She was an avid reader and writer, having written three blogs during her career and retirement. In 2013 she published her book “The Success Myth” with Motivational Press. Her other hobbies included gardening and cooking, and in 2008 she traveled to St. Remy de Provence, France to study French cuisine.


In 2001 she started the 11th Chapter of the Red Hat Society of America in Lancaster, PA, which eventually grew to include 14 chapters in the county. The group celebrated the aging of women and the membership required being at least 50 years old. Carol organized a 14-chapter celebration at Armstrong Manor with more than 70 women from the 14 chapters attending.


She is survived by her husband, Daniel L. Guild of Port St. Joe, FL; son, Nicholas Aubitz of Rostraver Township, PA; grandchildren, Christopher Aubitz and Natalie Aubitz; brothers, Rob Goodling of Rochester, NY and Randal (Joan) Goodling of Mechanicsburg, PA. She is also survived by step daughter, Heather (Randy) Rohm of West Finley; step son, Daniel K. (Jane) Guild of Eighty Four, PA; and step grandchildren; Cody Rohm, Elizabeth Rohm and Eleanor Guild.


She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Wesley Goodling; stepmother, Mabel Forry Goodling; and her mother, Ruth Viola Dressler Goodling.


Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, August 9 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. following visitation.
