Frances V. Stawovy

Frances V. Stawovy, 89, of Rostraver Township, died Thursday, June 10, 2021. Born in Wickhaven on October 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Ference) Stofan. She was the last surviving member of their family of eight children.
Fran was very proud of her children, grandchildren and her newest great granddaughter. She was well-known for her cooking and canning, especially her tomato juice! Fran was a member of the Church of St. Anne, where she active in the Church Choir, the Faith Formation teacher, member and past President of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Eucharistic Minister and Homebound Communion Ministry. She was also a Girl Scout Leader.
She and her late husband, Ted, worked together and built the businesses of Willowbrook Golf Course and Cedarbrook Golf Course, which they expanded in 1987 to 36 holes and added a restaurant, The Clubhouse Grille. She loved to golf and participated in the Couples League and was a member of the National Golf Course Owners Association. Fran and Ted loved to travel and went on numerous trips; they wintered in Florida for many years.
She is survived by her 6 children, Patricia A. (Delvin) Miller of Sewickley, Timothy J. (Lisa) Stawovy of Greensburg, John V. (Monica) Stawovy of Rostraver, Mary A. (Mark) Seamans of Rostraver, Michael T. (Becky) Stawovy of Cleveland Heights, OH and Susan A. (David) Preaus of Silverthorne, CO; grandchildren, Jonathan, Katherine & Sarah Miller, David (Karen) Miller, Luke (Lauren) Stawovy, Nicole (Dayne) Detweiler, Bria Stawovy, Brittany, Olivia, Alayna & J.T. Stawovy, Christopher, Daniel & Becky Seamans, Stosh, Samuel & Stella Stawovy and Theodore, Noah & Hamilton Preaus; great granddaughter, Hannah Stawovy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Theodore "Ted" Stawovy in 2014; siblings, Margaret Stofan as a child, Mary (George) Lemack, Andrew (Madeline) Stofan, Albert (Marie) Stofan, John (Jean) Stofan, Ann (Francis) Rudzik, and twin brother, Frank (Alice) Stofan; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl K. Stawovy.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT THE CHURCH OF ST. ANNE on Tuesday at 10 a.m. for a Funeral Mass with Rev. David J. Nazimek presiding. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
