Gene A. Popp, 61, of Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Mon Valley Hospital. Born in North Charleroi on January 30, 1954, he was the son of the late Clifford and Joan (Crosser) Popp.
Gene was a dry wall finisher for Local Union 2006 and attended St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Donora. He loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joe (Bridge) Popp; 2 daughters, Jackie Rae (Michael) Armentrout of Smithton and Gena Joe (Scott) Myshin of Rostraver Township; brother, Gary Popp of Monessen; father-in-law & mother-in-law; Joe & Mary Gene Bridge of Rostraver Township; brother-in-law, Joseph (Deanna) Bridge; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Jimmy) Zunic and Jenny Bridge, all of Belle Vernon; uncle, Ray (Mabel) Popp of Rostraver Township; many nieces, nephews & cousins; and his beagle, Manny.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cliff Popp; and brothers-in-law, D.J. and Michael Bridge.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday with the Very Reverend Igor R. Soroka officiating. Interment will be private.
