James Gallina

James L. Gallina, 102, of Belle Vernon, died Friday, December 4, 2015. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on May 2, 1913, he was the son of the late Primo and Susanna (Moretto) Gallina.
James moved to Pennsylavnia in his early 20's and lived with his aunt and uncle. He entered the U. S. Army during World War II, where he received a purple heart. During his time in the Army, he became a citizen of the U. S. He had a patent for steel toe boots. Until his retirement, James was an operating engineer for Continental Can Company. After his retirement, he moved to Belle Vernon, where he lived until his passing.
He is survived by Lori Legazza of Belle Vernon who was like a daughter; Hanna & Katelin Legazza, who were like his granddaughters; The Federers, who were his neighbors; sister, Gemma LeFave who is 95 years of age and resides in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews in the U. S. and Canada, who loved him dearly; and many additional neighbors and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Gallina, Lina Favero, Ben Gallina, Allan Gallina, Ada Bertolo, Columba Smith, Amy Scozzafave, and Elsie Gallina.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m.Wednesday with Rev. Vincent J. Gigliotti officiating. Interment, with full Military honors, will follow in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery, Ross Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to OSPTA Hospice.
