Lynda Lee (Ambrose) Callaway, 78, of Rostraver Twp. peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital on September 8, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Samuel Ambrose and Margaret (Staffieri) Ambrose.
Lynda was a member of the St. Sebastian Church in Belle Vernon. She worked many years at McShane's Florist and retired from SPHS. In her younger years, Lynda enjoyed bowling. She belonged to a league with her husband, and she faithfully attended the Aerobic Center.
Lynda was an avid football fan. From watching her son and grandson play for Belle Vernon to every Steeler Sunday in her game room, she was cheering them on (loudly). She even attended Super Bowl X with her husband in 1976. Lynda LOVED her bingo... and pull tabs. She would show up every week ready to hit the jackpot. Family vacations held a special place in her heart. Lynda and her family would take yearly road trips down to what they consider their second home, Hilton Head Island, where she found joy in the sunshine and the ocean air. But what meant the most to her was her family. Lynda cherished family traditions that will be carried on for generations, most notably her beloved hosting of the Christmas Eve Seven Fishes dinner. Lynda deeply valued her Italian roots.
She was known as a mother "Ma", Aunt Lynda, Mrs. C, Mama Lynda, Lee Lee, Lyn, but to all, nana. There was not a single thing she wouldn't do for you, and she would never let you leave hungry. Lynda put so much beauty into the world; to know her was to love her, and the impact she left on those closest to her will live on forever. No matter how often someone told her they loved her, her response remained the same: "I love you more."
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Larry Anthony Callaway Sr., Two daughters Laura (Callaway) Weston and Michelle Callaway-Rodriguez, and one son Larry (Jody) Callaway Jr. Six grandchildren Lyssa (Timothy) Gazdich, Brett Bishop, Bria Bishop and Fiancé Brett Perry, Larry Callaway, Malena Rodriguez, and Gianna Callaway. Four great-grandchildren Vincenzo (Vinny) Bishop, Nolan Gazdich, Bruno Bishop, and Adeline (Big eyes) Gazdich. Two sisters-in-law Beverly Belczyk and Sally Callaway. Three nieces Marnie Majireck Hayward, Missy (Majireck) Costello, and Mindy (Majireck) Graham. Two nephews William Callaway and DJ Belczyk. And precious life-long friends Frank and Donna Francia.
In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her two sisters Margaret (Peggy) Ambrose Majireck and Debra (Debbie) Ambrose. Three brothers-in-law William N. Callaway, John (Sonny) Majireck, and Donald Belczyk. One nephew Robert (Bobby) Callaway.Friends will be received on Saturday, March 7 from 5 PM to 8 PM and Sunday, March 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the James C.
