Margaret "Peggy" L. Hula, 79, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 3, 2026, at her home in Rostraver Township with her family and pastor at her side. She was born on June 7, 1946, in Greensburg, daughter of the late Charles David Markle and Edna L Griffith Markle McPhatter.
Peggy was a faithful member of Bible Alliance Church, where she enjoyed serving on the Comfort Care Visitation Team and various other ministries. She was a graduate of West Newton High School, Class of 1964, and earned her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education from California State University. She began and ended her 35 year teaching career as a dedicated teacher of the Yough School District, working at both Mendon and West Newton Elementary schools.
Peggy's life was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. Her journey on Earth was one marked and led by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Peggy's passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her. We ask that those who knew her remember for the life she lived, and the profound impact her faith had on her life and whose lives were touched by all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by cousins Jason (Elizabeth) Fleming, their daughters Jackalyn and Hannah and sons Joel and Jacob, of Leesburg, VA; cousin Jeni Baker, son John Lyttle, both of Raleigh, NC; cousins Jack Blatnick (Sandy), their daughter Bethany, all of Meadville, PA; friends who became family Amy (Larry) Baldwin and their daughters Ashley Baldwin, all of Rostraver Township, and Kristie (Troy) Beauchat, of Titusville, PA; her faithful dog Maggie Leigh; and many lifelong friends.
In addition to her parents, she is united in heaven by her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, Dennis Hula; her son David Hula; stepdad D. Bennett McPhatter: cousin Janet A Fleming: and their several well-loved miniature schnauzers. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Peggy's caregivers for their love and compassion and Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for their diligent care.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bible Alliance Church, 1300 Mt. Pleasant Road, West Newton, PA 15089. A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Frank Todaro officiating. A luncheon will follow after the service.
