Ruth Ann Smith

Ruth Ann Smith, 76, of West Newton, died Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Born in West Newton on June 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Blanche (Miller) Bittner.
A homemaker of six children, Ruth Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Newton. She loved doing needlepoint, playing computer games and building miniature lego sets, and she enjoyed watching movies on the Hallmark Channel.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (George) Smalich of Perryopolis, Amy (Ron) Notovich of West Newton, David Smith of Charlotte, NC, Betsy (Brent) Grushecky of West Newton, Charles (Ranelle) Smith of Smithton and Suzy Smith of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Zachary Smalich, Nicholas Smalich, Georgie Smalich, Hannah Smith, Emily Smith, Abigail Smith and Kora; brother, Charles (Bonnie) Bittner of Stoughton, Massachusetts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Smith Jr. in 2012.
Family and friends will meet in the chapel of West Newton Cemetery, 210 Vernon Drive, West Newton on Friday from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Glen F. Richardson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The First Baptist Church, 201 South 6th Street, West Newton, PA 15089.
