Ronald W. Greenawalt

Ronald W. Greenawalt Sr. 85, of Rostraver Township, received his heavenly wings on Friday, August 5, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Samuel Rankin and Margaret M. (Hellyer) Greenawalt, Ronnie was born on June 5, 1937 in Rostraver, where he graduated high school in 1956.

After 30 years of employment at Massaro Corp, he retired at age 62. However, full of life and energy, Ronald could hardly stay still for long. He began working with his dearest friend, Bob Dryburgh`s business (Dryburgh Transfer Services Inc.) for another 19 years.

Ron had a very dedicated faith with the Lord. He was a proud member of the Star Junction Baptist Church and attended the Olive Branch Baptist Church of Belle Vernon.

Ronald was a very talented baseball player and carried his love of the sport throughout adulthood. An avid hunter, he enjoyed and looked forward to hunting with his sons. When he had a spare day or two, he would commonly be found relaxing at camp with his devoted wife. Here, he would kick back with dear friends or spend time fishing. One of his numerous passions was participating in tractor-pulling competitions. Friends would often make remarks regarding his enviable garden that he tended to with care.

His strong work ethic and his caring, helping hand will forever be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Donna (Erdely) Greenawalt; and his beloved children, Ronald (Marybeth) Greenawalt Jr., Dave (Wanda) Greenawalt, Timothy (Dawn) Greenawalt, Chad Greenawalt, Kelly Harash and Leighann (Marc) Brokenbek; step children, Ben (Amber) Crawford, Wayne (Carlene) Crawford and Kim Brundage (Bruce Biagini). Ron also leaves many loving grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com  where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kenneth Sommerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Gateway Hospice for their wonderful care.
