Pastor Terry Lee Lemley, 63, of Smithdale, died Friday, January 15, 2021. Born in Jacobs Creek on May 24, 1957, he was the son of the late Ronald Lemley and Marlene (Dobritz) Lemley Currence.
Terry worked as a tree trimmer, then as a bridge painter, followed by construction.
Terry attended the Signal of Light School and received his Doctorate in Theology. He was ordained a minister on March 22, 2009 and pastored Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Smithdale until his illness in October 2020.
He was greatly loved by his family, friends and all who got to know him. He will be missed. May all in heaven sing - Another son comes home to the praise of God!
He is survived by his wife, Diane E. (Tirpak) Lemley; brother, Ronald "Buddy" Lemley; sister, Cheryl Lemley and husband, Randy; niece,Tara Reiner and husband Matt; nephew, Scott Lemley and wife, Melinda; several great nieces and nephews; and a great-great nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Lea Lemley; and grandparents, Kenneth and Margaret Hodge.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 2081 Smithdale Road, West Newton, where a Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rebecca Luker officiating.
