Russell LeeRoy Yost, 94, of Rostraver Township, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Born in Rostraver Township on September 13, 1926, he was the son of the late Chester and Rose (Richie) Yost.
He honorably served as a Marine in both WWII and the Korean War.
Russell worked at Corning Glass before moving on to Page Steel & Wire in Monessen until the plant closed in 1991. He drove for Sanitary Landfill for many years and then began driving for his son`s company, R.L. Yost Trucking, until he retired.
He loved hunting and being outdoors, gardening and watching wildlife, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Anne Marie in January of 2020, having been married for 72 years; and by his sister, Betty J. McCauley in 2015.
Russell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Russell L. (Dian) Yost Jr. of Eighty Four; daughter, Patricia (Martha Jacobs) of Yonkers, NY; grandchildren, Andrea (Matthew) Cohen of Philadelphia and Rusty Yost of Eighty Four; great-grandchildren, Soren and Sage Cohen; sister, Rose Marie Kerr of Rostraver Township; nieces, Cheryl Myers of Florida, Karen (Eric) Winter of Derry and Kim Kerr Gilbert (John Kavulick) of Rostraver Township; and nephew, John Kerr of Alabama.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Martha Jacobs officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
Everyone attending the visitation and services must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
